If you mention Suffolk, Virginia, a lot of people think there is nothing good about it. Most cannot get past the "country" feel of Suffolk. While there are cons, there are quite a few pros about living in Suffolk, Virginia as well. And you probably have a lot of questions. Is Suffolk Va a good place to live? Pros:

1. Outdoors

 

Suffolk Virginia is known for being made up of a lot of land, so if you like the outdoors, this might be the place for you. Activities like fishing, hunting, kayaking, having a picnic, hiking, etc. are abundant in Suffolk va.

 

2. Inexpensive

 

Compared to the rest of Hampton Roads, Suffolk Virginia can be less expensive when it comes to real estate. You could spend up to 100k less in Suffolk for a similar size and style home than in Chesapeake or Virginia Beach.

 

3. Crime

 

Crime is very low in Suffolk Virginia. Most of the crime in Suffolk is centered around downtown Suffolk Va. When you compare these crime rates to some other parts of Hampton Roads, it is significantly less.

Cons:

1. Distance

 

Suffolk Virginia is relatively far from a lot of things in Hampton Roads. If you like space or don't mind driving, Suffolk may be a great place for you. If not, you may find it difficult living in Suffolk Va.

 

2. Not A Lot Going On

 

Because Suffolk Va is widespread, there is not a lot going on. The peace is nice, however, if you like the hustle and bustle of a city, you won't find that per se in Suffolk Virginia.

 

3. Schools

 

Another factor, since Suffolk is widespread, is that the schools are not rated the best. Compared to the rest of Hampton Roads, Suffolk Virginia schools are rated lower. There are also not as many schools in Suffolk Va as there are in other parts of Hampton Roads.
